I has a camera and I uses it.

Okay, that's being somewhat simplistic. I've actively been involved in photography since... ooh... 1986. Much of the stuff I was taking as a teenager was crap - and that was including being hired to photograph Nicaragua's elections in 1989 to make sure there was no funny business going on.

So I pretty much discouraged myself from taking pictures as a means to an end by 1993. The hit-to-miss ratio was too immense which meant costly as I was using film, paper, darkrooms and chemicals.

A decade later I got my first digital camera - a sweet Canon S1-IS. A great entry-level digital camera. The CCR chip in that died earlier this year- a known defect on Canon's part - so since they ran out of replacement chips, the sent me an S5-IS!! Sleek, black, and 8MP quality. Not exactly a $2500 Nikon with interchangeable lenses, I know, but a pretty nice upgrade nontheless.

I've found I have bit of a flair for taking pictures of flowers, fire and cars. So I'm in the process of exploring avenues to get some of these pictures turned into greeting cards and prints.
